Adjustment Period

Hundreds get ready to run in Cali, the Washington Post tries to get dumb people to read, and the Germans are at it again

This week may be a bit slow on the Swamp end, as I adjust my routine to unemployment :) Actually, what has turned out to be the biggest problem is the slow dial-up speed. What usually took 30 minutes or so to scan the papers for articles took like an hour and a half Monday, and I didn't even finish, much less get to read them all. Then, today the server was down for upgrades in the morning, hense late issue. Anyway, I think it's going to have to be every other day until I get high-speed installed in my apartment, hopefully later in the week.

That Other Country: As the US prepares for talks with North Korea, the North Koreans seem not to like John Bolton, the Undersecretary of State...then again, maybe calling someone "human scum" is a good thing in the DPRK -

See ya later: In other State Department news, Secretary Powell and his deputy have both said they're out in 2005, 2nd Bush term or not. And the people that Bush is considering replacing them with should strike fear into the hearts of everyone. Any Dem should be able to win when running against this stuff -

Helping a dysfunctional industry: Once again, the airlines are demanding huge subsidies and stifled competition. Once again, government is giving in -

Look Who's Running for President 2: Joe Lieberman warned Democrats against swinging to the left today, spec ifically bashing Howard Dean -

Well, it's better than the Fourth Reich: Germans have some strange traditions (you may remember the strange English film they all watch on New Year's), but the new German fad sweeping the globe is even weirder: pointless gatherings of huge mobs -
