Officer on Deck!
The Ten adjust to the General, the Milky Way dines on the neighbor, and who's the worst?
So during the hiatus, the whole Democratic race was thrown into chaos by the entrance of retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who has quickly catapulted to the top tier in most polls, and now has to be considered among the front runners. Of course, the rest of the "Just the Ten of Us" is trying to figure out how to stop the Clark bandwagon, and look in this afternoon's debate (what's up with that, btw?) for the new attack line to be something on the order of "How can a man who voted for Dick Nixon and Ronald Reagan be the Democratic candidate?" Considering the power that the "die-hard Democrats" have shown in the Dean movement thus far, that could actually be a good strategy. Of course, the other interesting thing will be to see how many positions the General really has staked out, and how long the rest of the Ten and the press will give him a pass due to the fact he just entered the race. In fact, Kerry's campaign already has criticized him for "borrowing" key parts of other campaigns plans for his economic plan. The plot thickens...
Look Who's Running for President: Howard Dean will likely win the money primary this quarter as well, but Clark will do well, pulling in $2 million or so in just a week or two. This is another good move by the Clark people, getting in to the race now means they won't be judged on money until the end of the year, which is almost before the primaries -
