Do Not Call

The telemarketers go away, Nazi Marching Bands in Texas, and Quentin likes the bar

Took me a while to realize what was different about this morning. I mean, it was just like most unemployed mornings, arising later than most folk, checking the news and email, reading the paper and having breakfast, browsing the internet...but there was something missing. Then it hit me...despite attempts to derail it, the National Do-Not-Call list took effect this morning! Instead of dozens of telemarketing calls filling my day, the phone instead hasn't rung once! Who knows if this is actually the list working, or just a down period for the computer dialers, but if this is the result of the list's proponents efforts, then fantastic!

Stuck in Traffic: The annual Texas Transportation Institute Study came out yesterday, surprising no one with the fact that our lack of investment in infrastructure has resulted in more gridlock. Of course, every paper in the nation ran a story on it -

Idiotic Marching Bands: A Marching Band in Texas is reconsidering it's idea to use a Nazi flag during it's halftime show. Because, yeah, that might not get received well in Texas or something. Oh yeah, and it was on Rosh Hashanah too -

Other Idiotic Things involving Football: EPSN is under fire after Rush Limbaugh said that Donovan McNabb was only considered good as a quarterback because he was black. Great idea there guys, brining Limbaugh on the show. I hear David Duke is a basketball fan -
