On Hiatus

The Swamp goes on temporary hiatus...but John Edwards is still ugly

Well, as many of you have noticed, the Swamp has been appearing less and less frequently in the last few weeks. Many of you have asked why, especially since I have *ahem* some additional time on my hands nowadays. While it may seem like not having a job may mean that I have all the time in the world to do the Swamp every day, regrettably that has not been the case. Whereas before I was in front of a computer anyway, now I must devote an additional hour of my day to putting the Swamp together each morning, and that's one less hour of job searching and other responsibilities I have to attend to. Unfortunately, as the severance pay draws to an end I will have to consider taking part time work as well, leaving me with even less time to devote to the Swamp.

I'm sure any of you who have been in a similar situation understand what it's like, and after a nice few weeks of vacation at first, I've come more and more to view myself as drifting, with no real prospects for straightening things out on the horizon. So, I'm going to put the Swamp on temporary hiatus, in the hopes that I can steady things back up and get back on track. It's tough, because I'm always still picking out articles each day and thinking up columns in my head, but the time and energy just aren't there often enough anymore. I'll still occasionally put a day's appearance in with an article or a rant, still update the "Look Who's Running for President" scorecards on the website (they'll even expand soon!), and due to popular demand I'll rotate the bad John Edwards photo once a week or so (see below for this week's feature)...that's easy since you don't have to hunt hard for them! This is only temporary though, I fully expect to be back online by the end of the year hopefully (and in time for the January primaries!), just as all of the networks will be bringing back their crappy new programs after baseball is over. Ironically, we're coming up on the one-year anniversary of the Swamp, which started late last October, and the reaction has been more than I could have ever imagined or hoped for. I thank all of you for welcoming me into your world each day, and hope to be filling up your inboxes again sometime soon. In the meantime...remember to take the time to enjoy the insanity!
